Our Values and Ethos
Keresforth Primary School is an all inclusive community primary school who values the contributions of all individuals involved with the school. As a school, we firmly believe that the child is at the heart of their learning and to this end, we work extremely hard to ensure that all pupils have equal opportunities to do the very best they can.
We have an enthusiastic, highly motivated team of staff who are committed to providing a caring, child-centred ethos. We offer skilled teaching, a creative curriculum and high academic standards, as well as concentrating on the education of the whole child. We set high expectations for all children.
Children with additional needs are given the support they need to thrive. A bespoke curriculum is planned for those that require it and we carefully track progress, amending targets and working closely with parents and external agencies.
Our behaviour policy is based around restorative practice. Children learn the importance of talking things through and how to see how their actions may affect others.
We place great emphasis on ensuring the wellbeing of all children. Nurture is key. We begin our day with mindfulness and journaling to ensure needs are met. Our regulation stations in every classroom enable children have a place to go to self -regulate, when needed.
A focus on our learner values ensures that all children understand how to treat others respectfully, regardless of differences and to become resilient, reflective learners.
Education is a partnership between home and school. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together. We regularly welcome parents into school to watch our termly class assemblies and to participate in themed workshops, allowing them to immerse themselves in learning, working alongside their child.
Children come into the school bringing a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the world around them. It is our aim to build on these skills and promote a willingness and enthusiasm to learn more.
We offer a range of extra-curricular activities from sports, to choir, art and library club. We also ensure we plan exciting educational trips and visits, including our popular residential visit for Years 5 and 6.
We believe that every child can achieve, and through good teaching and learning and the partnerships we build with parents and the wider community, our children leave school as confident, able learners equipped with the skills and knowledge to continue their lifelong learning journey.
We hope our website will give you a ‘feel’ for the life and work of the school and for the caring and friendly atmosphere we know you will find here.
The school is set in beautiful grounds which we improve constantly, making lovely places to play and work outside as well as inside.
You are most welcome to visit us. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
