About the school

About Keresforth Primary School.

Keresforth Primary School is a large red brick building, west of Barnsley and close to J37 of the M1.  It was opened in 1910 and has had many extensions and alterations over the years, which have greatly enhanced provision making it fit for the modern age.  It is a spacious building providing good accommodation for up to 8 classes with Interactive Screens in every room as well as a bank of laptops and ipads for pupil use. There is a separate Nursery building with its own outdoor play area.

The school has extensive grounds and the imaginative development of these has become a feature.  Keresforth Primary School frequently attracts awards and grants for the work to be continued, enabling pupils and the community to have opportunities for a broad and interesting range of learning experiences outside the building as well as inside.

The staff are friendly, supportive, conscientious and humorous, providing excellent role models for pupils.  The pupils respond positively by achieving and behaving well.

The curriculum is creative and exciting with many visits and activities taking place throughout the year.  There is also a range of sporting activities, including dance for pupils to enjoy.

The success of the school is reflected in pupil’s good attendance and their evaluations of aspects of school life help the staff to be dynamic in their approach to Teaching & Learning.

The team of staff contribute to the well being of the pupils by adhering to the concept of the child being at the heart of all that they do.

The school operates a breakfast club every morning from 7.45 am until registration. Bookings should be made in advance, they will receive a choice of breakfasts and the opportunity to play games after they have eaten. There is a small charge for this service, please contact the school office for further information.

Keresforth Primary School also offers an after school club from 3.15pm to 5.30pm daily during term time for our children, again bookings should be made in advance as the club is very popular.
