History

At Keresforth Primary School, our intent is to offer a high quality, rich and inspiring history education that aids pupils to gain coherent knowledge and understanding of the past world-wide. Children will have opportunities to develop their curiosity about the past and ask perceptive questions and think critically. Topics are informed by the National Curriculum and are sensitive to children’s interests, as well as the context of the local area. Children should begin to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their lifetime. Children will obtain a coherent, chronological narrative from the earliest times to the present day and understand how people’s lives have shaped this nation and how Britain has been influenced by the wider world. We aim for children to be able to remember and recall key historical facts.
