Reading

At Keresforth Primary School, our intent is for all children to instil a love of reading. With the high expectations we hold, we aim for the majority of children to reach age related expectations by the end of each Key Stage or have made good progress from their individual starting points.

We aim to seek to promote reading and effectively teach the subject in all areas of the curriculum.  We use the VIPERS reading strategy alongside other schemes to support the teaching of reading.  We use Essential Letters and Sounds which is a systematic synthetic programme for teaching phonics.
